Kristi M. Hilton, MS, NAD IV, Ed: K-12, has more than 27 years of experience as a sign language interpreter and has been an instructor in the American Sign Language (ASL) department 91TV for over 16 years. She holds an associate of applied science degree in sign language interpreting from Southeast Technical Institute, a bachelor’s degree in American studies with an emphasis in Deaf studies from Minnesota State University in Moorhead (MSUM), and a master’s degree in educational leadership from MSUM. Hilton is certified by the National Association of the Deaf (NAD) and holds Ed: K-12 credentialing through the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf. Her interpreting experience spans a wide range of settings, including early childhood, K-12, postsecondary education, medical and mental health environments, vocational rehabilitation and video remote interpreting. In addition to teaching, Hilton serves as a mentor to interpreting students and practicing interpreters working toward certification. Her teaching philosophy centers on creating a welcoming environment while ensuring meaningful access to education for all learners. Outside the classroom, she enjoys floating in the lake on hot summer days.
